Welcome to the November edition of our newsletter. At Nicholsons we love the winter - this is the perfect time for planting of trees and other garden plants. We have a great range in stock so feel free to come and have a browse. As always we have helpful and knowledgeable staff to assist.

Opening times are Weekdays 7.30am - 4.00pm and Saturday mornings 9.00am - 12noon

And for the Saturdays 3rd,10th and 17th December we are open 9.00am - 4.00pm for Christmas Trees, Wreaths, Vouchers and much more.

Screening and the HS2

WIth the possible advent of the HS2 trainline we have been trying to decide how we can help.There are plenty of places to object but there is still a possibility of it happening. If the worst happens what things that can be done with plants to try and alleviate some of the effects.

Careful planting can help both in sceening visually and potentially some noise alleviation.

Jon Uglow on the Merits of Evergreens!

Jon Uglow is one of Nicholsons' Garden Designers and has a wealth of experience in the field having worked for Luciano Giubbilei in the past.

Here he writes about the value of Evergreens. The time to view them and value them is in the winter months when everything else has died down and you are left with the basic canvas.

Faces change in the Forestry Arb Team

We are sorry to say that Adam Quant who has been running the Arb Team for the past 5 years has left us - he has gone to join his father-in-law in the family landscaping company and we wish him well in the new job and thank him for all he has done for us. We will miss his colourful shirts!

We are delighted to announce that we have secured the services of Luke Tamblyn, as Adam's succesor, who is starting with us shortly.

He comes with 16 years of experience in the sector. He started as a self employed contractor and has had many arboricultural consultant roles since, covering advice and contracting on projects of all scales from one tree to large council projects.

Logs, Wreaths and Christmas Trees

With the Autumn settling in don't forget that we can supply you with excellent hardwood seasoned logs.

We will also be doing Christmas trees again this year - the Nordmann Fir. If you would like larger than the usual, please order these in advance otherwise they should be available from the beginning of December.

And we will have our usual lovely wreaths for sale too. Please order in advance to guarantee supply.
